J-Car has been established primarily to bring together as much information as possible for visitors on the subject of the booming industry of Japanese car imports. For a long time now specialist dealers both in Japan and the UK have been importing many different makes and model of Japanese cars and making them available to the UK public. The beauty of course with importing the japanese cars is that for one they are right-hand drive to suit our roads but also that the value for money also tends to be pretty good. Many Japanese car imports come with high specifications and of course the perfromance japanese import cars are extremely popular, especially the Subaru models.

Another reason to buy a japanese import car is the fact that the Japanese have far stricter servicing and maintenance rules on their vehicles meaning it far more likely to find an import car which has lower mileage and better body work than perhaps a European car.
Another concern that people have voiced over the japanese car imports is the likelyhood of buying a stolen vehicle. Obviosuly it is best to only buy through a well known and recommended import dealer but also make sure the car is coming direct from Japan. Japan do now have pretty secure laws in place to check every car which is exported here.
Physical changes to a Japanese imported car will include converting the speedometer to MPH from KPH and also many import companies will de-limit the speedometers as the Japanese limit there cars to 112.5MPH. Any standard radio in a Japanese car import will also work in the UK although no on stanard UK settings and any SAT NAV equipment will likely need converting before it will work in the UK. Much of this work will usually be carried out under the Single Vehicle Approval Test (SVA)
